Sculpture Final Portfolio

For this piece I used wire, my favorite material to use in sculpture. I love to use wire for projects because you can create anything with wire. I have created many things with wire including Fish, Lizards, and now I created a wire  tower. Another plus for using wire is that it can be seen as anything in a sculpture. In this piece you can interpret it as a pyramid, tower, a W, almost anything you want it to be. Lastly with wire a great thing you can do is cover it in either newspaper or paper machete and add a layer of solid and cover over the wire. It is bendable, breakable, movable, and is great material for creating masterpieces. For another piece I used wire and then covered it in newspaper to create the 3-D effect of a man. The wire resembled the bones in a human body by keeping it sturdy and steady.

While creating the Marble Drop project, I learned many things about the way of thinking about ideas for a project; and creating things from an idea inside my head. I learned how to abuse gravity into the way I want by the way the marble would drop into funnels and tubes perfectly. I developed my artistic skills by working with many different types of materials and working to fit them all together perfectly. I also learned how to deal with adversity and being able to bounce back from things not working and being destroyed. It took us 5 tries to get the pulley to drop into the black box correctly. We thought about giving up on that idea, but we got it and it looks good! I grew in my team working skills also by working together with Bailey and putting our ideas together into one collaboration. It was a difficult project wand a lot of work, but we got through it and finished it well.

This creation looking the way it does all mattered on the size, material, and techniques. While making this project, I had to measure the lengths of his legs, torso, and arms to make sure everything was proportional to a real body. I also had to make sure I didn't put to much tap or newspaper on him or he would become to fat and chubby. I planned out how to make the head 3-D by putting newspaper on either side of his head. Lastly, I had to put the disk onto his hand and create that to be bigger then the head, but not to big. This projected matter mostly and size, but the technique also mattered a lot. I had to put newspaper all around the wire body and then tape it all on perfectly. Then I had to paint his clothes on body on him making it look like a uniform that he is wearing. It was a fun easier project that resemble me playing ultimate frisbee, and laying out for the disk in mid-air.
